Set up a Google Shopping ad campaign
1. Log in to Google Merchant Center and link it to your Google Ads account.
Log in to your Merchant Center at google.com/merchantcenter Click the tools icon. Click Linked accounts under Settings. Select Google Ads. Select the account that you want to link. Click Link under Actions.
2. Confirm the account linking in your Google Ads account.
Go to your Google Ads account. Click the tools icon. Under Setup, click Linked accounts. Under Google Merchant Center, click Details. Click Approve to approve the link.
3. Select settings for your standard shopping campaign.
Go to your Google Ads account. Click on +New Campaign. Select Create campaign without the goal’s guidance. Select Shopping. Select Standard Shipping Campaign. Click Save. On the next screen enter the campaign name. Under Bidding, leave the default bidding strategy. Define the daily budget under Budget. Start with a small budget and scale once the campaign performance is good. Target the Search Network only. Click Save & continue.
4. Set up the ad group in your campaign.
Name your ad group, for example, All products. Define the CPC bid, for example $1. Click on All products. Subdivide products by Item ID. Tick the box next to Product group to select all items. Click Continue to edit bids. Click Save.
5. Create a smart shopping campaign and define the campaign settings.
Go to your Google Ads account. Click on +New Campaign. Select Create campaign without the goal’s guidance. Select Shopping. Select Smart Shopping Campaign. Enter the campaign name. Leave all the settings as defaults and define the daily budget. Start with a small budget and scale once the campaign performance is good. Click on Save & Continue.
6. Define product groups and assets.
Under Product groups, select the products that you want to advertise. Leave as default if you want to advertise all products in your feed. Under Assets, add images, text and videos to use in your ads. Click Save.
