Create Facebook ads with lookalike audiences

1. Create a lookalike audience based on the list of your existing customers.

Go to https://www.facebook.com/adsmanager/audiences. Click the Create Audience button. Select Lookalike audience from the drop-down menu. Click on New source and select Custom audience. Choose Customer list and click Next. Click Next again. Under Does Your List Include a Column For Customer Value? select No and click Next. Upload a CSV file with a list of e-mail addresses of your customers. Name your audience and click Next. Select audience location, for example USA. Select the audience size to specify the similarity to your source audience, for example 1%. Click on Create audience. Use this lookalike audience type to scale your sales campaigns.

2. Create a lookalike audience based on the website visitors from your Facebook pixel.

Go to https://www.facebook.com/adsmanager/audiences. Click the Create Audience button. Select Lookalike audience from the drop-down menu. Click on New source and select Custom audience. Select Website as the audience source. Use Include the people who meet the following criteria to define your audience. Examples: All website visitors that purchased in the last 180 days. All website visitors in the last 30 days. All the website visitors that added to the cart in the last 30 days. Name your audience, for example, Lookalike 3% All visitors last 30 days, and click Next. Click Create a Lookalike audience. Select Audience location. Select the audience size to specify the similarity to your source audience, for example, 1%. Click on Create audience, for example, USA. Use this lookalike audience type to scale your sales campaigns.

3. Create a lookalike audience based on the users that follow or interact with your Facebook page.

Go to https://www.facebook.com/adsmanager/audiences. Click the Create audience button. Select Lookalike audience from the drop-down menu. Click on New source and select Custom audience. Select Website as the audience source. Use Include the people who meet the following criteria to define your audience. Examples: All website visitors that purchased in the last 180 days. All website visitors in the last 30 days. All the website visitors that added to cart in the last 30 days. Name your audience, Lookalike 3% All Fans, and click Next. Click Create a Lookalike audience. Select Audience location. Select the audience size to specify the similarity to your source audience, for example, 1%. Click on Create audience, for example, USA. Use this to increase the reach of your Facebook profile and generate new fans.

4. Create multiple audiences based on different sources and of different size, and test them.

Create audiences from different sources, for example, customer list and website visitors. Create audiences of different sizes, for example, separate 1%, 3%, 5% and 10% lookalikes from the same source. Test which audiences perform best.

5. Add the lookalike audience to the ad set targeting.

Go to Facebook Ads Manager and click on Ad Sets. Hover over the Ad set and click Edit. Scroll down to Audience. Click on Use Saved Audience and select your lookalike audience from the list. Click on Publish.
