Rich Communication Suite (RCS) is a GSMA initiative, aiming to develop specifications for Rich Communication Services. These include “enhanced” instant messaging, video calling and the ability to share documents and photos simultaneously during calls and service discovery. All services can be accessed from a subscriber’s contact list. RCS services will be available across any network and any device. Specifications have been defined and developed to date in five phases and/or releases.
