HDDs, which utilize magnetic recording and playback technologies, are used as a data storage component in mobile PCs, desktop or deskside PCs, servers, and dedicated storage systems. HDDs are also standard components in many consumer audiovisual applications. HDDs include 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factor devices that utilize a range of different interfaces to their host system. These include Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE), Enhanced Serial Device Interface (ESDI), Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA), Serial ATA (SATA), Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), serial SCSI architecture and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS). This category includes all HDDs and their associated semiconductor content for both PC systems and non-PC (mainly consumer) applications.
